Independent Living Assisted Living Extra Care

Ridgewood realizes that happiness and comfort are about peace of mind. That is why caring for you is our main concern. Our carefully chosen staff is composed of truly remarkable individuals. Each of us strives to make a difference in your life by learning the little things that matter to you. We offer Extended Living services in private comfortable suites, which are designed to help residents maintain independence. These spacious accommodations provide a place where residents who need a little help with the activities of daily living can truly enjoy life.

Caregivers are available to help residents with activities such as dressing, bathing, grooming, eating, and mobility. Services include three meals a day and snacks, housekeeping, local transportation, laundry services, health and wellness programs, medication reminders, social and recreational activities. All suites are equipped with an emergency call system.

Ridgewood Retirement Centre offers multi-levels of assistance.  We are committed to care for your loved one for as long as possible.  We work with families to contract with outside agencies such as physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech therapy, foot care, and home care.

Ridgewood Retirement Centre offers residents a continuum of care including mild dementia care. Independent senior living residents needing additional assistance can transition into a higher level of care without leaving Ridgewood. This provides families with security in knowing care needs will be met until the end of life and children will not be ‘burdened’.

Independent Living

Couples who live independently at Ridgewood enjoy a remarkable peace-of-mind because they know if their (or their spouse’s) health care needs change over time, the services and care they require are found on site. This is especially important to couples because if one of them becomes ill and needs more care than the other, they can still remain close to each another and can easily spend time together socializing, dining, or engaging in activities. And, they know that their loved one is receiving the services they need to thrive and maintain as much independence as possible.

Residents of independent living should be in good health and not require constant medical monitoring or care. Residents are expected to visit their primary physicians for routine visits and on-going care.  There are two groups of daily living activities; these are referred to as the activities of daily living and the instrumental activities of daily living. The activities of daily living are basic, routine tasks-such as bathing, dressing, eating and using the toilet-which most people are able to perform on a daily basis without assistance. The instrumental activities of daily living are more complex tasks that require a certain amount of physical dexterity, sound judgment and organizational skills. A senior’s ability (or inability) to adequately perform both groups of activities is usually reflective of that person’s ability to live safely and independently.

Here at Ridgewood we continually strive to develop innovative aged care services by seeking knowledge, responding to and meeting community expectations and by developing creative approaches that will provide the best possible care for the people we serve. We have 53 private rooms that cater to the well senior who are independently living with little support. Full meals, housekeeping, and basic personal care are included. We offer that little bit of extra care and compassion that enables residents to call our home their home.   Independent Living suites are designed for those individuals who do not need personal assistance. Residents can choose from a variety of beautifully appointed, spacious suites.

Ridgewood Retirement Centre offers several levels of health care services and programs. All of these programs and services work together to help residents maintain and enhance their well-being now, and into the future.

Assisted Living

Our Assisted Living program is designed to help residents maintain independence by offering assistance with the activities of daily living.

Caregivers are available to help with activities such as dressing, bathing, grooming, and mobility. Assisted Living services include three meals a day, basic housekeeping, local transportation, laundry services, health and wellness programs, medication reminders, and social and recreational activities. Assisted Living is designed to respond to the individual needs of senior adults.

Assisted living care promotes maximum independence and dignity for each resident and encourages the involvement of a resident's family, neighbors and friends. It is an environment well suited for someone who is unable to live at home or who wants extra support.

Staff members are present 24-hours a day to respond to emergencies and take care of resident’s needs if and when you need a little extra help. These services are provided in the comfort of your suite without necessitating a need to move. Assisted living also provides residents with needed social interaction that they may not receive living at home.

This type of accommodation has become a popular housing choice for senior adults because it provides the right blend of services at a reasonable cost and offers residents the opportunity to live as independently as possible. It is designed to provide a homelike atmosphere instead of an institutional environment.  Seniors in Assisted living can maintain an active lifestyle while their family members get the peace of mind of knowing that caring, well-trained staff are available should their family member need assistance.

“So you can relax and start living the life” you’ve earned.

Extra Care

Also referred to as ‘Aging in place ‘greatly reduces premature decline in condition often associated with change in living environment and moving from place to place. Ridgewood Retirement Centre offers residents the ability to ‘age in place’ with the knowledge that a move will never be required for health reasons. Whereas most retirement centers offer independent living and assisted living only, Ridgewood provides a continuum of care that includes independent and assisted living.

Extra Care is a service that provides 24-hour care, seven days a week for clients in their suites, Extra Care includes skilled caregivers and non-medical services for people who need help with activities of daily living due to problems of aging, chronic conditions or disabilities. Services are tailored to meet individual and family needs. Care is provided on a fee for service plan. You assume responsibility for the cost of care. Some private insurance may cover private duty care. Extra Care can be provided to residents if needed.   The aim will always be that, wherever possible, residents will be looked after by caregivers, who they trust. Residents' needs are assessed on an individual basis so that we can make sure that each resident receives all the help they need with everyday life. This might include extra time and help with getting up in the morning, toileting, getting dressed, bathing etc.
